Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): weed eater, weedeater runs when primed

Question
I have a john deer weed eater that starts for a few seconds after i pull the cord and then it stops. I prime it again and then it starts and stops. It is a mix oil type with gas. Please help with some advise. THANX

Most likely yopu have a carburetor that needs to be rebuilt.  We do an annual service on 2-cycle equipment that includes a carb rebuild, cleaning the exhaust, replacing the spark plug, fuel filter and lines and cleaning out the tank.  This is what I recommend you do at this point.  The carb needs to come apart and be soaked in cleaner for an hour or more and chase all the holes with some fine wire.  Then  reassemble with a new carb kit.  This should solve your problem and prevent any others for the near future.
