Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Starts then dies, tecumseh carburetor, only runs when primed

I have a Craftsman push mower with a 4.5hp tecumseh engine. I have cleaned the carb and readjusted the govenor but it still will only run if i am pressing the primer bulb. any ideas?

On your carburetor, is the float bowl held on with a bolt that has a couple of holes in the side of the threaded part and a tiny hole in the end?  If so, remove that and clean it again.  You have to run a fine wire though the holes, especially the one on the end of the bolt.

Try this, or if you don't have this style retainer, and let me know what you get.  Thanks, PK.
