Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro Powershift 8-24, impeller shaft, drive pulley

Question
QUESTION: Hi John,
Should the impeller pulley be held up by the belt that is around it-or should it be completely stationary?
If it should be stationary (mine is not)what is the problem?
Thanks
Bob

ANSWER: Hello Bob:

>>From your Description it Sounds like a Bearing Requires Replacing.
>>Most of the Impellers are Supported by the Bearings of the Auger Gear Box.
>>Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you.

QUESTION: Hey John-
Thank you for the quick reply.  The model no. is 38540
From the diagram at the site you sent, the part that I am speaking of being lose is TRACTION-SHEAVE, HALF (https://lookup3.toro.com/partdex/index.cfm?xCaller=Toro)
It appears to hang on the belt itself.  In other words if I pull up on the belt the sheave will move up as well.
Bob

ANSWER: Hello Bob:

>>Are you Asking About the Transmission Drive Pulley (TRACTION-SHEAVE, HALF) or the Pulley for the Impeller?
>>If the Transmission Drive Pulley is Flopping Around, then the Bearing (#36) Requires Replacing.
>>If you are Asking About the Pulley for the Impeller, then it is Attached to the Engine and the Impeller Shaft should Not Move.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hi John,
I am all confused:) The pulley is located on the bottom, and appears to be attached to the front of the machine.  The impeller belt slips around the upper pulley and then down onto the pulley I am describing.
Bob

Answer
Hi Bob:

>>OK.
>>The Bearing (#36) for the Transmission Drive Pulley is Bad.
>>Sorry for being Confusing, but I Refered to the First E-Mail and Saw the Word Impeller. After Re-Reading your Complete Conversation, I See you have Determined that the Pulley you were Actually Asking About is the Transmission Pulley (TRACTION-SHEAVE, HALF) and this Pulley is Supported by the Bearing (#36).
>>If there is Play in this Pulley, then the Bearing is Bad or the Bolt has Loosened and has Allowed the Bearing to Become Loose in the Housing.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
