Toyota Repair: key lock on driver door, retaining clip, connecting link

Question
I locked my keys in the car and someone tried to use a slim jim to unlock it,now the key will not lock or unlock the door. can I fix this problem myself?

Answer
Sometimes when this method is used to unlock the door a linkage rod on the door lock to the door handle may be disconnected, the solution to this is to remove the door panel and find the connecting link that came off and possibly replace a plastic retaining clip or two.
