Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Blower Wont Start, engine no start

Question
Model:  358.794960

Has always started after a couple pulls and runs fine. Started blower as normal, full of gas, and while I was using it, it started slowing down and stopped. Will not start now. Have changed spark-plug (has spark), cleaned carbuerator and gas lines are clear and flow. Not sure what to look for. Thought I'd ask here before I take it to the 'fix-it' shop. Thanks in advance for any help!!

Answer
Hello Ray M.,

Well Ray you've come to the right place :).
First off, check for spark.  Then, once you've determined this (*use of a spark tester is recommended)

- Check if the spark is wet or dry.

IF WET

- See if defective spark plug

- See if air filter dirty or clogged

- Improper or Stale gasoline

- Sheared or defective flywheel

- Carburetion malfunction because of flooding or over-priming.

- Ignition system malfunction

IF DRY

- Check fuel & Supply - Check Gas Cap Vent

- Check for blockage in fuel system (i.e. filter, screen, gas lines)

- Carburetion problem due to carb not being properly set or other

- Compression problem (for this check you can simply pull out         the spark and as you crank the engine keep your thumb over the spark hole, the compression should blow your thumb away from opening).

* Also try pouring 15 ml of gasoline right into spark hole opening.  After reinstalling spark if engine starts then you know you have a fuel delivery problem.

After completing above checks, if you're still finding difficulties w/starting, get back to me.

Howard B.
