Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Chainsaw racing on start up, throttle linkage, linkage problem

Question
Hi, I have a "Powerplus Garden" chainsaw ( made by Varo ), POW 64110 that immediately overraces when started up. I have checked the throttle linkage and it appears to be operating fine, i have also looked in the carby and the throttle butterfly seems to be opening and closing correctly when the throttle is operated. Where do i go from here???

Answer
Remove throttle linkage choke linkage and carburetor clean thoroughly.  You don't mention if the saw returns to normal operation, does it?

If it does you have a linkage problem if it doesn't you have a carburetor and or air leak problem.  Check for air links where the carburetor months to the cylinder. there is usually in insulator block and it couldn't warp.  Be sure mounting fasteners are tight and fuel lines have no leaks.  Most sawshave an air vane governor and that could be malfunctioning. look by the flywheel there should be a small metal strip or plastic strip it pivots on one end only.  There is a link that runs for the arm to the carburetor.  this is your governor and air coming off the flywheel operates it.  when the flywheel slows down due to load the governor opens the carburetor and causes the saw to run faster the opposite when it is running fast to slow down.  If not it get back to us.
