Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Lawn Tractor - excessive deck vibration, craftsman lawn tractor, spindle shaft

Question
I have a Craftsman 16.5 HP Lawn Tractor with a 42" mowing deck.  At the end of last season, I hit a stump, causing vibration when mower deck engaged.  I thought a blade was damaged and was going to replace it at beginning of next season (this spring).  One blade got slightly bent.  Took off BOTH blades, engaged deck, and still have vibration.  I started the engine, engaged the deck (without blades) & looked  at the deck.  The idler pulley seems to be moving somewhat, causing the vibration (or pulsing).
I don't know what it might be.  I checked all the bearings, I lubricated them, and they all spin freely.  Is it a damaged belt, I was thinking maybe the tensioning spring on the idler pulley is weak.  To tell the truth, I am stumped (no pun intended).
I am no expert on tractors and am desperate for help.  The Sears Craftsman tractor is #917.271141.  The deck is 42" wide (listed as part #169583 in owners manual).

Answer
Hello Alex:

Check for Vibration with New Blades Installed on the Deck. The Blades Act like a Balancer for the Spindle Assemblies. If the Deck Vibrates with New Blades, then Check the Spindle that had the Bent Blade. Most Likely the Spindle Shaft is Bent and is Causing the Vibration. The Belt Idler is Supposed to Pulse like you Described. To View a Breakdown of this Unit Go to this Site Addy, http://www3.sears.com/ and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Search.
