Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Troy Built 4-cycle trimmer, clutch assembly, grass trimmer

Question
I bought a Troy Built 4-cycle grass trimmer last year, and the clutch will never dis-engage. I have tried to reduce the idle speed as slow as possible, but the head will never stop rotating. Is there something else that I can try?

Answer
Hello Dan:

Does this Model have a Clutch? Some Model Trimmers Use a Clutch (Trimmer Head Stops when the RPMs Reach Idle) and Others are Direct Drive (Trimmer Head Turns All the Time the Engine is Turning). If this Model has the Clutch Drive and the Trimmer Head Turns Even at Idle, then the Clutch Spring has Broken or is Weak and the Clutch Assembly Requires Replacing. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Unit, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Go to this Site Addy, http://www.jackssmallengines.net/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab and Enter the OEM (Troy Bilt)and the Model Numbers. Now Double Click on your Model in the Results Area. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
