Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Murray Rider no kill with ignition off, safety switches, select shop

Question
Hi, John....I disassembled the wiring to replace the solenoid months ago and now I can't seem to remember how it goes back together...Model 30577X8A...I have it starting, runs good, I understand that there are safety switches for the seat, the blade(engage/disengage) and the clutch/brake....but I have 2 wires (a yellow and a black) both have ring connectors and they don't fit on the posts of the solenoid....I think the yellow has to go to ground for the safety switch circuit...but the 'off' position on the ignition switch still doesn't kill the engine....I don't know where the black wire is supposed to go...tried ground and that still didn't correct the problem. Also...is there a way to repair a leak in the gas tank..it's plastic. Thanks for your help....

Answer
Hello Bob:

The Black Wire should be Attached to the Shut Off Lug of the Throttle Control Bracket or it Connects to the Coil/Ign Module. On the Control Bracket there May be a Stud with a Wire from the Shut Off Lug of the Coil/Ign Module. You Stated the Wire has an Eyelet, so the Wire should Connect to the Throttle Control Bracket. Go to this Site Addy, http://www.smallenginepartswarehouse.com/parts.asp and Select Shop Online Parts Look Up. Then Select the Model Tab. Then Select the OEM (Murray) and Enter the Model Numbers. Then Double Click on your Model in the Results Area. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View. To Repair the Tank: I Use Fiberglass Repair. Rough Up the Area to be Repaired with a Wire Brush and then Apply the Fiberglass as the Enclosed Instructions Direct. The Rougher the Area where the Fiberglass Repair is to be Applied the Better the Fiberglass will Hold. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
