Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S 10 HP no start, generac generator, oil level

Hi. I've a Generac generator with B&S 10hp engine. I've changed the oil, gas, plug. Use starting fluid and get the momentary start, then it stops. Oil level's good and gas is getting to the cylinder (spark plug smells gassy). Any help would be greatly appreciated...I spent my evening monkeying with this thing.

Does the engine have a low oil sensor?  Did you remove, dis-assemble and clean the carb?

Will the engine run if you continue to spray starting fluid in the carburetor throat?  If so, then the carb is dirty and needs to be cleaned.
