Question -
I have a Tecumseh HM100 159409P engine for a generator. I would like to get a 12V starter for this but was told I would have to change the flywheel. My question is, is this true and if I do have to change the flywheel, being a novice would this be hard? Thank for your help.

 Hello Phillip:

The Flywheel has to be Changed and on Some Models the Blower Housing(metal engine cover) has to be Changed Also to Accomodate the Electric Starter. Check the Engine Block and Make Sure it is Drilled and Tapped for the Electric Starter to be Mounted onto the Engine. You can do the Changes Yourself as it Not that Complicated. The Only Special Tool you will need a Steering Wheel Puller. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Answer
 Hello Phillip:

Does the Flywheel on the Engine have the Teeth for the Electric Starter? If yes, then Just Install the Starter. If Not, then this is the Part Number for the Correct Flywheel. Tecumseh Part Number 611093. You can Contact Michelle or Wanda at Outdoor Distrubitors ((205-669-2500) and Give them the Part Number and they can Give you the Price Plus the Shipping Charges. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.
