Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman riding lawnmower, blade switch, craftsman riding lawnmower

Question
Hello, I ran my Craftsman riding lawnmower a few hours without
any trouble..than I went over a small bump in my grass and
stopped to pick up a branch that was in the way..When I got
back on to restart the mower to keep cutting, it wouldn't start
and I here a whirring sound like somewthing is disconnected? I
cannot see anything different on the belts etc. HELP

Answer
Hi Pam,

Make sure the blade switch or lever, is off and check the seat switch, as the engine will not start in that case. If still no different, see if the starter gear is turning when cranking.  Using a helper might be easier.

Let me know what you find.
