Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): starter, tecumseh engines, flywheel

Question
i have a customer who wants me to try to add electric start to his generator. im looking for someone who knows about tecumseh engines. this engine has the place for the starter and the tin shroud has a small removable piece for the starter to go through to the flywheel. the problem is that there is no ring gear on the flywheel. im looking for someone with knowledge of whether or not you can just change the flywheel or add a ring gear to this one. its is model # 01312-0 and serial# is 6111746. if you can help me please let me know.

Answer
Spoke with out Tecumseh engine expert and you can install a ring gear but you have to have an oven and cooler to it.  Several machine shops can provide this service but by the time you buy a ring gear and have it installed it is just as cheap to get a new flywheel.

Have you tried looking for a used flywheel and starter?
