Steering Column Repair: 93 S10 Tahoe Ignition Switch, test light, fuel pump

Question
I have replaced the ignition switch in my 93 s10, but now my headlights & tail lights are not working and my truck will crank but will not stay running. I don't think the fuel pump is coming on? Could you help me?

Answer
Hi Brittany:

It sounds like
1)  a large fuse under the hood has blown (Ignition Fuse)
2)  you have installed the wrong switch
3)  the connectors to the ignition switch are not connected properly

The headlights and taillights do not go through the ignition circuits so something must have been disconnected or shorted during the process of replacing the ignition switch.  Check the fuses under the hood with a test light, not just by looking at them. I think you will find one or more of them is blown

Good luck

Doug
