QuestionI Have a 1991 Chevy S-10 pick up that i need to pull the steering column out of so that i can replace it with another off a less abused vehicle. Just need to know the steps to be taken to just remove steering column and not touch the steering box.

You do have a couple of options (if you want). Rebuild it, or replace it,

They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the videos are for a Chevrolet pickup truck, the column is very similar to yours.

If you decide to replace it, simply remove:
1) the 15mm nut and bolt on the engine side of the firewall that attaches the steering shaft,
2) the shift lever linkage (hairpin)
3) (inside the truck) the 4 10mm bolts that secure the column to the firewall floor
4) the 5-6 wire harnesses that attach to the column (all accessible) and unique
5) the shift indicator string coming from the speedometer head and clipped onto the shift bowl
6) the 2 15mm nuts that secure the column tot he dash
That's it--- it's out
