Steering Column Repair: 96 Buick Regal anti theft system bypass, buick regal, key cylinder

Question
This is a portion of your answer to a previous quastion dealing with exactly what I have going on. I had my 1996 buick regal key cylinder changed and now the dealership is telling me the ignition anti theft module is bad and they want another 7-900 more dollars. SO I would like to simply bypass the entire anti theft thing with the resisror key. Can you send me the procedure ? Here is your answer I mentioned ..

.."You have 2 choices.  bypass the system, eliminating this anti-theft protection, or replacing the lock and recreating new VATS keys.  The costs to repair this problem can be from under $10 if you do the bypass yourself, to over $200 if you have a professional replace the lock and keys.  I can provide procedures for both.
Let me know (either by email again or through this site) which procedure you would like me to send you.

Answer
Hi Pat:

The bypass we talk about for the resistor key will not affect the antitheft module.  That bypass talks to the module and tells it to go ahead and start the car.  If the module is bad, then youare in much deeper than normal.  That module is located in the dash and what the key (or bypass) talks to.
The Theft Deterrent Relay and Module are located behind the RH side of Instrument Panel, above the Glove Compartment.  You will need to locate those components and bypass it there, rather than do the procedure we talk about in our website.  You will be bypassing a starter system and activating a fuel enable portion of the powertrain module.
The problem is, that some of the wires in this module are for the fuel system shutoff portion of the antitheft system and I cannot help you there.  The only thing we normally bypass is the chip in the key, not the module in the dash.  That gets into a lot more wiring!!
Here's our website with the bypass page for the chip on the key.

I hope this helps you some.
