Steering Column Repair: loose steering column, chevrolet truck, steering wheel

I have a 1985 Corvette--- When you hold on to the steering wheel
you can move the steering column in a loose circle. What is
supposed to hold the column in place?

Hi Dave:
It sounds like the tilt has loosened up on your car.  
We have recently uploaded some videos on our website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the parts you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step 2-3 minute detailed videos with instructions. Although the video is for a Chevrolet truck, the column is very similar to yours.  The only exception is that you have a telescopic wheel.  there are separate instruction for that also on our website in the "How-To" section.
