Subaru Repair: Outback stalling after air filter change, mass air flow sensor, air flow sensor

Question
1998 Outback AT 65K miles.

Just changed the air filter, and now my car stalls whenever I
don't have my foot on the gas. I'm not an experienced
mechanic, but am technically inclined - air filter change is
pretty easy I think...

I also put the old filter back in , but still the same problem.
could I have knocked something, or maybe not put
everything back together right?

Thanks for your help

Answer
Hello Rusty,

Where the air filter goes in, follow the tube towards the engine. The first section after the air filter box is the mass air flow sensor, you will see wires connected to this. Just past that on the underside you will see a spot where a hose connects, that hose is more than likely off. That will cause your car not to run. I hope this helps.
