QuestionI checked the CA DMV sight and could not find anything on what I want to know about so i thought I'd ask anyways. If you are insured to drive a vehicle in CA but not registered as the owner is it right for an impound lot to bill you instead of the registered owner?

Why was it towed, is one of the questions...
Now you say you are not the registered owner, did you buy it and not register it in your name ?
That can mean they will bill you as you are the owner of the vehicle if they can find proof or have been notified...
Is it a rent a car, well you are responsible for fees on it if it gets towed. You can be back billed by the rental company if they pay them...
There are about a hundred things which can affect this answer.
