Towing Issues: stolen stereo from towing yard, tow yard, stolen stereo

Question
Hi I was involve in car accident, the sheriff towed my car to a towing yard sub contracted by the sheriff, the next day of the accident i went to pick up my 2,000 stereo, i was told by the yard that i would not be able to remove anything attached to the vehicle that this was policy, i did inform them about my expensive stereo and they did notice it. a week latter when the vehicle was released to my insurance company and towed to a lot sub contracted by my insurance company the adjuster did not include a stereo, i called him and he said that their was no stereo, when i went to go see the car the stereo was now gone.
WHAT I HAVE IS, THE SHERIFFS TOW YARD ADMITS TO BEING A STEREO IN THE CAR WHILE THE CAR WAS IN THEIR POSSESSION.
THE TOWING COMPANY THAT TOWED THE CAR FROM THE SHERIFFS LOT TO THE INSURANCE LOT HAD AN INVENTORY LIST FILLED OUT WHERE IT SAYS THAT AT THE TIME OF THE TRANSFER THEIR WAS NO STEREO, FUNNY THING THAT THE INVENTORY LIST DOES NOT INCLUDE A SIGNATURE FROM ANYONE IN THE SHERIFFS LOT, ALTHOUGH THEIR IS A SPOT FOR A SIGNATURE. SO THE TOW DRIVER "FORGOT" TO GET A SIGNATURE. WHEN THE CAR ARRIVES TO THE INSURANCE TOW YARD ITS PHOTOGRAPH AND OFCOURSE THE STEREO BY THEN IS GONE.

Answer
Elias,

We get mostly of bogus claims for this sort of thing, not that I think you are lying, I'm just saying that we don't jump at the chance to believe someone has stolen something in our lot, though it has happened. Someone could have broken in, of course, rather than assuming one of their employees did it.

Call the tow company again. Make sure you are calm and easy to deal with, and it will be a lot easier to get some compensation. Report it to the sheriff if they do not cooperate.
