Towing Issues: towing a 4x4 on a tow dolly, tow dolly, rear wheels

hi richard;
i rented a tow dolly to tow a 2003 ford escape 4x4 xlt with front wheel dr 3.ol v6  4speed auto o/d trans from pa to tx. what do i need to do to set this vehicle up for towing

if you have done this then all you need to do is BUY A NEW CAR...

The transmission will be fried as it is turning all 4 wheels into the transmission at the same time, and when it is loaded front end up on the dolly the vehicle is still "driving" off the rear wheels...

Now if this is a FRONT WHEEL DRIVE then its ok but from what you say its not..


Check out www.towspec.com  and get the information on your vehicle and you will see the recommendations that WE USE WHEN TOWING YOUR VEHICLE with tow trucks...


Best bet with "ANY 4 WHEEL DRIVE" is to use a car carrier where the vehicle is TOTALLY OFF THE GROUND
