Towing Issues: Dot numbers, etc., dot numbers, camper trailer

Question
I am about to put my new welding truck on the road. My equipment is permanently attached to the truck and I will be towing a 21' camper trailer. Do I need DOT numbers? Do I have to carry a log book?

Answer
well as far as I know if they truck is registered as a commercial vehicle and is over a gross weight of 10,000 pounds you will need DOT numbers, a log book if traveling over 100 air miles or traveling interstate, and you will need a medical card...

You can check out the US Department of Transportation web site and there you will find all kinds of answers to your questions on if and what you will need.

also check out your states requirements from DMV as they all have different rules regarding what is a "COMMERCIAL VEHICLE"
