Towing Issues: towing my legal car, dmv office, nv dmv

Question
I live in Henderson(Las Vegas) nevada. I recently had my car towed from my covered parking spot for not having it registered. However I had  a NV DMV Temporary movement Permit located where it needed to be according to the law. When I asked the manager about it she said she would find out and call me which she never did. I contacted the towing company and they were surprised. About a half hour later they say "my yardman thinks the permit looks funny and doesn't think it was real." I then say I will bring a police officer with me to verify that it is legal. their answer "that wont work we need a print out of the permit from the dmv. I then say so you want a copy of what you already have. long story short $533 dollars later I pick up my car. When I get in my movement permit was be removed by "someone" and is nowhere to be found I ask the yard man and he says he doesn't know. Now what can I do to make this situation right. The apartment complex called the towing company. so is it the apartments or the towing companys job to decide if the car they are towing is actually illegally parked??????? Help Please!!!!!!!!

Answer
well, I can not vouch for what the permit looked like and if it looked legal or not...

But in the question you say it was towed from your apartment complex and the management called for the tow...

The tow company in this case seemed to respond to a call from the management to tow an illegally parked vehicle, which the management decided needed to be removed for what ever reason..

So the actual blame would be the apartment management if you were looking for someone to blame.. Now as to your permit being gone when you picked up the vehicle, if it was removed for inspection then it is hard to say where they might of put it or what ever.
But I personally have issues with entering any persons vehicle when towing it for various reasons.  Your permit should of been in a window or somewhere else it is visible while driving.
A print out from the DMV office, not sure what they mean there other than maybe the receipt which shows you paid for it.

This does sound strange to me, and I would be checking into it more with both the tow company and the apartment complex management ...  If you do not get any satisfaction then you always have the small claims court to use and see if you can convince a judge you were wronged.
