Towing Issues: Towing a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee, jeep grand cherokee, tow dolly

Question
I am towing my 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee behind a U-Haul, what apparatus needs to be disengaged and how?

Answer
well, this is kind of out of my area of expertise but in an attempt to answer this question it would depend on how the vehicle is towed behind the U Haul...

If it is on a tow dolly then one end of the vehicle would be on the trailer and one would be on the ground. The driveline on the end on the ground would need to be removed then to prevent the chances of damage..

If it is on a car trailer then it would have all 4 wheels off the ground and you would not need to remove anything...

I do not think that U Haul rents tow bars anymore which would have all 4 wheels on the ground, but if you had one of them then you would have to remove both front and rear drivelines to prevent the chances of damage to the transmission....

Jeeps especially the Grand Cherokee's were always the worst vehicle to tow with tow trucks as they did not ever have a "true" neutral in the transfer case assembly..

Hope this helps, but its kind of out of my area of expertise.
