Towing Issues: ticketed for pulling my trailer home, carlsbad tx, public roadways

Question
I bought a trailer which had expired tags and was ticketed on the way home (2 miles from my house no less).  Is there no a grace period for recently purchased trailers to be pulled without registration after purchase?

Generally any vehicle on public roadways needs to have a license, be it permanent or a temp..

I take it you bought the trailer from a private person so you would have have a dealer that could issue you one...

As to grace periods, I really have no idea, I would think it would be right to have some provision to get a newly purchased vehicle home... But that is not always how it works..
