Towing Issues: towing package, shifting into overdrive, wheel wells

Question
2000 silverado 1/2 ton, has button on shift lever for tow but does not explain..also, what about rear springs?

Answer
Roger,

The button on the end of the column shift is a 'tow mode' which (depending on year and exact model) will keep the transmission from shifting into overdrive and may also use some engine braking and higher shift points to allow the engine an easier time while under heavy load.

As for the rear springs, they are located between the frame of the truck and the rear axle and keep the tires from rubbing the inside of the wheel wells...  I'm just kidding. ;-)    What exactly would you like to know regarding the rear springs on your truck?

Sarcastically yours,
