Tractor Repair: Lawn Tractor, craftsman lawn tractor, fly wheel

Question
I have a 1998 Craftsman lawn tractor with a 15.5 Kohler engine. I recently replaced the battery but accidently reversed the polarity it caused a 30amp fuse to blow. After realizing what I did I corrected it but continued to blow that fuse!. I think I replaced every electrical "plug in" module including the igintion switch but still had the problem. Finally I replaced the battery with correct one and was able to get it started but now the amp meter shows a continual discharge.
My question: is there some type of "alternator" and regulator on the Kohler engines? If so where would they be located so that I can replace either item? Also, the lights are not working now either but the bulbs seem "OK"

Thanks for your help

Answer
Mike yes under the fly wheel is a charging system you may have damaged the regulator which is built into the system but if it is charging back to front swap the wires over on the amp meter more so if you have been playing with the plugs and wiring check the charge system with a volts meter to see if it is charging and let me know the out come Mike.
