Triumph Repair: installing rear seal in tr-4 transmission, rear seal, tr 4

Hi,
Can you tell me if I can install a rear seal in a tr-4 trans without removing the trans from the car?  And is it a pretty straightforward repair?
The trans is actually in a tr-3 car.

Hi Dennis,
Yes, there is enough room to replace the rear seal with the tunnel cover off. I don't remember doing that in the car but there should be enough room to work. At worst you may need to loosen the trans mount and raise the rear up a little to be able to pry the old seal out.
