UK Car Repair: mass air flow sensor, mass air meter, mass air flow sensor

Question
95 pontiac firebird, had a 98 engine put it. 3.8 litre, v6. My car starts right up everytime and stalls after about 2-3 seconds. Had a diagnostic done and the codes said..mass air flow sensor and power steering pressure switch..I dont think the pressure switch would cause the car to die? So another guy told me it would probably be the mass air flow sensor..where is that located? and is it possible to check to see if thats the problem? And do you think thats the problem? thanks for your time and help

Answer
Hi
in my experience the mass air meter code will be stored as a result of the stalling and so is a symptom rather than the cause.
Check that the throttle housing is clean and the idle air control valve is clean too.Make sure the breather system is not blocked.
