UK Car Repair: Corsa N/S Door mirror, vauxhall corsa, quantum physics

Question
Hi there,
Bit of a dumb question this, but I know about as much about repairing cars as I do about Quantum Physics... Probably less.
I have just had to buy a replacement glass for the Passenger-side door mirror for a Vauxhall Corsa '03 model, and it's electric.  I can get the glass to 'sit' in the mounting quite nicely, but I can't seem to get it to connect up to the motors that actually move the mirror.  I didn't want to dismantle the whole mirror, as, frankly, I haven't got a clue how.  Do you have any ideas?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Andy

Answer
Hi
with the glass removed from the mirror body you will see two small plastic balls that should clip into the back of the glass.if you look on the back of the glass you will see a larger ball in the middle, this clips into the slot in the mirror body.I assume you have seem these all ready as you say you can get it partially seated?
The trick is to smear the larger ball on the back of the glass and the smaller ones in the body with grease.
If you turn the ignition on and adjust the mirror with the switch (glass not fitted) you will see the small adjusting balls move.Adjust them so they are both all the way out.
Here on you need to be VERY gentle and apply even pressure or the glass will break when you press.
Offer the glass up to the unit and put the small adjusting ball against their slot on the glass dont try to clip them in yet just keep even pressure on.Now try and clip the big centre ball in, but all the time keep the small balls seated against the slots. The small ball adjusters when pressed will click back into the electric adjuster mechanism.
When the big ball is clicked in push against one of the small ones....you'll here a clicking noise as the adjuster goes back in dont worry its supposed to. When the rods all the way in give a firm press and it will"CLICK" into place.... now do the same with the other one and then adjust it to how you want it.If the glass doesnt move in and out in all directions then re-try clipping it in.
Keep trying it will go in eventually.
