Volvo Repair: 91 volvo 240 sedan Fuel pump, volvo 240, booster pump

Question
Hi, tonight i got ready to go out, -16C outside, i stated the car to warm up and let it ran 8 minutes, just enough to cut the chill inside. I backed out the drive and felt like I bumped some snow or ice. I drove down less than a 100 feet and the engine stalled as i was motorvating. I pulled over on the momentum left. All power is ok, starter turns over, engine won't start! I got a friend to turn the key a few times to light up the dash while listening in the tank by the fill hole. no sound! could it be the intank pump primer, or a disconected wire on the the main pump underneath?  i donno where the pump is located or the pump relays!
Many thanks in advance for any info on this, as it is my only car, and don't got much cash to fix. and it's in someone else's driveway down my road.
Johnny.

Answer
Johnny,
As I think you know, the Volvo 240 has a in-tank pump and a booster pump to provide the higher pressures required for fuel injection. The booster pump is under the car just beneath the left rear passenger seat. The relay is behind the kick panel beside the front passenger's feet. The relay is a plug-in type, white in color. The relay should cost no more than about $35, but if you are inclined to try to repair the relay, check and resolder any faulty joints. I hope this helps.
