Volvo Repair: 1990 Volvo 740 GL Wagon Hood Release, volvo 740 gl, hood latch

We have been unable to release the hood latch and need to service the car.  We have tried to pull on the latch on the inside while someone outside is trying to lift the hood and it has not opened.  Is there any way to release the hood latch without using the hood release lever inside the car?

Yes, you can remove the grille by grabbing it from the botom and lifting it straight up to reveal the lower pins, pull towards you and down.You can then reach the cable with your fingers and just pull on it. You can first try to have somebody push down on the hood while you pull the release, it may just be binding from lack of lubrication
