Volvo Repair: Transmission SErvice Urgent, volvo s80 t6, volvo s80

Question
2003 Volvo S80 T6 Elite. Miles 51,370. I received a message this morning while driving to work at normal speed of 50-55 mph. Message states: Transmission Service Urgent. I have checked the transmission fluid and the levels and color are normal. Can you please advise if this is just a sensor, regular schedule maintenance for transmission fluids or if it's something more serious. Also, can I continue to drive the car without damaging it. Thank you.

Answer
It will most likely have a code for a lock-up clutch solenoid jammed.  You can either replace the solenoid (works only sometimes) or the recommended repair is to replace the transmission.  No fluid flush is gonna save you.  You're gonna have internal failure somewhere with that message.  Take it to a dealer to get a better idea of whats going on.  Expect a replacement bill for a transmission to run about $4k.  You can still drive it, but its just gonna get worse.  Regardless the repair will still be the same.
