Volvo Repair: volvo starter, transmission side, trasmission

Question
I have a 1992 240gl that needs a starter and I'm wondering how hard is it to change.? do I need special tools, have to move the engine or trans. or anything radical or is it fairly easy? any help would be appreciated

Answer
Not very difficult. Two bolts holding it from transmission side, on driver side underneath. Need long extension and rachect, preferably 1/2 inch. It's bolted on relatively tight. Recommend swivel socket for top bolt, tight access.
The trasmission dipstick (automatic) may get in way, but I work around it. You can take it off but not really neccessary.
