Buick/Olds: Left Rear Turn/Brake Light, black knobs, grey carpet

Question
I have a 1992 Buick Century. The Left Rear turn/brake light is out. How do you get to the bulbs at the rear of the car to replace them?
Thanks for your help.

Answer
Open your trunk lid. On the left side, in front of your tail light assembly (on the inside) you will see 2 large, black "knobs" protruding from the surface. Unscrew both of them, removing them completely.  Carefully take the grey "carpet" out of the black rubber trim strip on the edge of the trunk opening. Under that, you will find 2 more similar, black "knobs". unscrew and remove both of them. NOW, FROM THE OUTSIDE get hold of the taillight assembly, and pull it towards you, until the long screws are out of the sheet metal. Holding the assembly in your hands, find the place where the wire are attached to an ivory colored socket. Squeeze the rim of the socket, turning it in a counter clock-wise movement. This will free the bulb so you can lift it out. Pull the bulb straight out of the socket. Insert a new bulb of the same number into the place you removed the old one from. Now, reverse the entire operation, and you're"good to go".
