Buick/Olds: steering colum, tight fit, screwdriver

Question
I replaced the ignition in my 1990 Buick La Sabre V6 tilt steering colum and as I put it back together I noticed that after depressing the plate on to the spring I could not get the C-clip back on. It came off with out a problem. It could be a problem with the bearing or race. Is the race pressed on? It has alot of play now between the shaft and the upper bearing. Please help, thanks Dave.

Answer
The bearing is not pressed on but it is a tight fit. Pull up on the shaft and push the bearing down into place with a pick or small screwdriver. Then push the upper race into place. Make sure that it did not get bent when you installed it wrong the first time.
