Chevrolet: headlight gaskets, body shop, gaskets

Question
hi roger...i have a 98 malibu ls, and the headlight gaskets need to be replaced. i took the car in to a shop, but that day it was very hot and the guy told me that to put headlight gaskets in, you have to go to a body shop. is that true, or was he trying to get out of doing a job?  it does not look very hard, but sometimes what looks easy can get hard to deal with. so, is this something that can be done at home, or do i really need to take it to body shop? thanks!!

Hi; I do not know why you would wish to do that ?  I do not know of anyone that has changed them, are we talking about the head lights ? I can not think of a reason to do that unless they are all rotted and causing the lamps to rattle around. and even so I would think you can do it in the drive way.  why a body shop ?
