Dodge: miss? hesitation?, dodge ram 1500, miss hesitation

I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 4x4 318 automatic. when I am driving at 50mph approx 1500rpms, my truck wants to hesitate, miss don't know what it could be. I also have a noise that sounds like a chain rattle, and the last thing is when I get on the gas heavy I hear a ping sound, Thank you for the help

HEY TOM,WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU HOLD THE BRAKE AND THROTTLE IT AT A DEAD STOP,CAN YOU GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE HESITATION OR NOISE? DO YOU HAVE AN ENGINE LIGHT ON? I AM WONDERING IF YOU HAVE A BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTER?TORQUE IT UP WITH THE BRAKE HELD AND GET BACK TO ME?THANKS,TIM.
