Dodge: 93 dodge dakota stalls out, distributer cap, haynes manual

Question
I have just replaced the distributer cap and rotor and fuel filter. After I replaced them, the truck runs worse.  I did run down the battery, I dont know it this has anything to do with it.  I seems to want to stall when I come to a stop and when I put the truck in reverse.  Could the filter be bad, could the wires to the distributer cap be on wrong?  Any help would be great.  Thanks  Joe

Answer
Joe,
If the wires are not on right the engine would skip, even with one wire crossed. This could have something to do with the timing.A tune up wouldn't have anything to do with reverse gear.If you replaced the filter it shouldn't be bad.If you replaced the distibutor cap make sure you have the wires on right. If it's running worse now than it was then you have a crossed wire. You can get a chiltons or haynes manual to see how the wires are routed. If the truck is stalling just in reverse i'd take it to a transmission shop and let them look at it and see if this has anything to do with reverse. It won't be anything to do with reverse gear itself,it may be the linkage to the transmission.
