Dodge: 96 Dodge Intrepid radio trouble, dodge ram 1500, power antenna

Question
My car radio when turned on always has power but sometimes just has static.  Normally when the car is off for a long period and then started the radio works but if I stop for gas and turn the car off then the radio just has static after re-starting and of course on a station that was comming in good.  It is almost like the antenna is getting unpluged.  I checked it in the trunk and all appears to be ok.  Is there a relay that breaks the antenna signal during power down?  Or any ideas?

Answer
If you have a power antenna,if the key is on and the radio also it wouldn't be a relay. If it was you wouldn't have power at all. It's more than likely the tuner in the radio is bad.The radio for my Dodge Ram 1500 is $700.00 new.I found a used one on ebay for $15.00.Mine was doing the same thing, and it's something that is frustrating and doesn't go away. The stock radios from the dealer are very expensive.I would take it to someone that does radio installs in your town and let them listen to it because it could also be a bad ground or frayed wire. But i was told my tuner was gone out. Thanks RamMan
