Dodge: Dodge Intrepid: Map Sensor, dodge intrepid, smoke one

Question
I've noticed that on my '93 Dodge Intrepid, when I step on the gas when I'm first driving it, it spits out black smoke.  One of the guys I work with says it's a problem with the Map sensor and I should have it replaced.  He said I should do it as soon as possible because it will cause big problems in the future, so I paid him to do so and 9 months later, he hasn't gotten around to it.  Is this something I should be worrying about?

Answer
Uuugh!Yep that usually is what happens, with the money i mean.Have you noticed the engine light coming on?It could be the MAP sensor. This is the reason i asked about the engine light. You see the MAP sensor is a sensor which would usually make the engine light come on if it was defective. But i've also found where people have tampered with the fuses and things to make the lights not come on.If the light has not come on i would still replace it.Because it will be about the cheapest place to start.
