Ford: transmission, 1996 ford thunderbird, tranny lines

Question
QUESTION: i have a 1996 ford thunderbird lx with a 4.6 liter in it i jsut recnetly put a new tranny in because the old one didnt have drive  but when i started the car and put it in gear nothing happens except the motor idles down and if the cars in the air the tires do rotate forward in every gear except park but i can stop them wiht my hands  so i took it out and redid it thinking the torque converter was not locked in it but it was and it did the same thing so i then got another trannny put it in and it does the same thing it also does not seam like it is not taking the tranny fluid beacsue i poored 5 quarts in and its reading way over full and thats wiht the tranny being completely emptied before put it. i tried everything im lost

ANSWER: Ok.. there are a couple of checks to do.. First off... is the check engine light on? are yo installing new reman trannys or boneyard trannys? are all of the connections good and tight? are the tranny lines clogged? are you using a different convertor every time? Make sure there is a filter in it.. (A lot of times a boneyard tranny will have the filter removed when you purchas it...) it just sounds like it is not getting line pressure... let me know what you come up with..

QUESTION: it was a junkyard tranny  and i blew the lines out thay are not clogged it does have a tranny filter and yes i put a different torque converter in also i did have a a check engine light on and it said silenoiid a and b malfunction  and torque converter circuit i then cleared all the codes. all my connections are good and tight  is thare nething else becasue it jsut seems like it stil isnt taking the fluid becasue to my knoledge it should hold a total of 13 quarts

Answer
you are correct... it will hold 13 quarts with the convertor , lines, cooler, and pan empty... if all you are filling is the pan and lines it should take about 5 quarts... when you put the convertor in did you get it all the way in the tranny... (Should fall in 3-4 drops... by lining up the front pump, input shaft and the splines on the tranny...) other than that it seems like you are getting a couple of bum trannys... unfortunatly that is all that I can think of... (Unless you are getting bad convertors...)
