GM-GMC: temp problem, temp gauge, oil colour

hi, iv'e just bought a corsa,the temp gauge goes high but not to the top (but close) the water needs flushing as it's a ranky brown and has no antifreeze, the oil colour is fine by the way, i realy just not sure how high the temp gauge goes on the corsa's. any idea's or suggestions would be great, thanks

Not knowing what year it is or what engine you have in it.....Temp gauges are not always accurate.  Flushing the rad is good maintenance and I would replace the thermostat at the same time.  To get a sure reading, find someone with a scanner and read the temp from the scanner instead of the gauge.  It shouldn't be much more than the thermostat you install(should say on the package what temp the stat opens at)
