Honda: Honda accord power steering problems, honda accord exi, power steering problems

We have a 1994 Honda accord exi-s and it appears the power steering works fine on the open road but from stand still the power steering fails, fluid in reseivior is full & there doesn't seem to be any leaks

Not knowing (or seeing for that matter) what is wrong with your vehicle, I would inspect the tension on the belt first. I've had an incident with a Honda dealership in Ohio during my Air Force days who forgot to tighten the tensioner on my power steering pump (that was a lawsuit situation)and caused me to have to power steering.

If you were to open the reservoir while the engine was idling, you should see a vortex spinning (fluid), if not, the pump may be shot. I am also curios to know whether it squeals when you turn the steering wheel. Bearings on PS pumps and alternators wear out after awhile which may cause the noise.

I would just go ahead and replace the pump.
