  Read your answer re: an 88-91 Civic owner who had the battery light on. Can you describe the procedure to get the alternator out of the car? I've removed it, but can't get it out. Also, I know that you suggested replacing the brushes as an alternative, but what if it is making a slight grinding noise? Do the bearings have to be replaced too? Lastly, where can you purchase the brushes? Thanks.

No it would take a long time to describe and thats what manuals are for but you will have to pull the drivers side axle,don't panic its really easy.If it's making a grinding noise it could be the bearing going out.I don't know where to buy the brushes maybe find a place where they rebuild alternators and starters.
