Honda: honda civic, honda civic 2000, honda civic

i have a honda civic 2000 with about 46.000 miles.  it has performed very well but lately, i have noticed when i start the car, it makes a chuging noise for about 30 seconds.  it then drives perfectly with no noise.  this happens in the mornings mainly and sometimes at other times but not so loud.  i wonder if you would inform me what the problem could be.  your comments would be very much appreciated.  thank you, dora

I will need more information.  Whereabouts is the noise coming from?  Under the engine?  Under the rear seat...?  Open the hood before you start the car one morning, then zero in on where the sound originates(but don't touch anything that's moving).  Please describe the sound with more precision.  Do you have an automatic transmission, or a manual one?  Do you live where it is cold, or hot?  Did you used to have a cat?  Okay, that one's a joke.
