Honda: 99 Honda pulley, crankshaft pulley, crank shaft

Question
The main pulley on the motor fell off of my accord.  it has 75,000 miles on it. Does this happen often?  The shaft that the pulley was attached to has been worn smooth.  is this the actual crank shaft?

Answer
How many cylinders does your engine have?
No, pulleys do not randomly fall off of Honda engines.
The crankshaft pulley is what some might call "the main" pulley.  Honda has generally designed crank pulleys with a harmonic balancer as one piece.  There may have been a problem with this "part" of your pulley.  Did you notice the engine running poorly prior to the failure?  Worst case scenario is you replacing the crankshaft, but a machine shop will most likely be able to repair any damage that may or may not have been incurred.  You'll most likely need a new pulley as well ($56.00).  *DO NOT BUY AN AFTERMARKET PULLEY*
Hope I helped,
