Mazda: Mazda Miata 2005, mazda dealer, flash pause

Hi my Miata passenger air bag light, when turned on is out, when turned off blinks constantly from amber to lighter amber,no specific amount of times, used to stay on bright amber when in the off position. Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

It's telling you there is a fault within the system.  Key on, watch it closely and count the number of flashes and the sequence it shows.  There will be a pattern.  IE; flash, flash pause, on steady, pause, etc.

Alternatively a Mazda dealer can read the system and tell you what it is by a number code (ie; 02, 11, 61) these codes decipher into a flow chart of possible malfunctions.  Based on what you tell me I can diagnose the problem.  

The 2001-2005 have not had a rash of SRS system failures so it may be a simple fix but, we'll have to see.

Have you had any work done recently, car stereo install perhaps?
