Mazda: madza rx7 1988, piston engine, compression seals

Question
Thinking about buying this model. what do I need to know?
Thanks, Nina

Answer
Has the engine ever been replaced and if so with what type rebuild.  A break down in the secondary lubrication from the oil metering system has led to a common early failure of the apex seals (compression seals)(like rings in a piston engine)

You take it on a case by case basis when you buy a used rotary powered car, be sure you spend a great deal of time behind the wheel before you seal the deal.  They are great well build machines as long as they are properly cared for.  Just be cautious.
