QUESTION: The fan at the radiator

ANSWER: If it is on continuously, the computer may not have recognized that it has been changed out. Try resetting the computer. Turn off all accessories, and radio, unlatch the hood, lock the doors with the key.
Raise the hood and disconnect the battery - then the +. Clean the post and the terminal ends, and add lubricant or the felt anti-corrosion rings. Wait 30 minutes and install the + and then the negative terminals securely.
Close the hood, unlock the door with the key and start the engine. See if this makes the fan lite go out.

QUESTION: The fan doesnt come on at all and is new i will try as you suggested but i have a feeling there is another problem

Answer
I misunderstood your questions. I thought you indicated that the fan is working, but the instrument light will not go out.
The fan only comes on when the engine water temp switch calls for fan. Or  in come cases, when you have the AC turned on, it will operate full time to help remove heat from the condenser. If this is a new fan, then I would take a look at the thermal switch at the water inlet on the block. It may be defective.  I think it is  a normally open switch. You should be able to ground the wire and check to see if the fan is coming on.
